Ultimate Blog Party 2013 - Overworked Mom Reviews

Posted by Over Worked Mom Reviews at 10:14 PM 2 comments
Hello fellow bloggers! Welcome to our blog. I am a WAHM who writes for 2 blogs and owns an online Children's Boutique website - Milo's Creations. I am married to my college sweetheart and we have 3 wild boys that keep me on my toes at all times.

Overworked Mom Reviews blog is fairly new. My purpose for this blog is to help other online small businesses by writing website and product reviews. By writing about others blogs, websites and products it creates one way links to their site. Those one way links are great for search engine ranking. The more quality websites that link to your site, the more popular your site appears to popular search engines! For a limited time we are writing FREE reviews! All we ask is for a little link love in return. Contact us for all the details!

I also throw in some quips about my everyday life as a WAHM, meal planning and recipes! Thank you for stopping by and I'd love if you drop us a comment, so I can check out your blog as well!

Weekly Menu Planning

Posted by Over Worked Mom Reviews at 7:46 PM 0 comments
As a busy work at home mom, its easy for me to get busy with working on websites and blogs, chauffeuring the kids, cleaning the house, being a domestic goddess... All of a sudden the kids are home from school and I'm struggling to throw dinner on the table while juggling snacks, homework and breaking up sibling fights. Well no more! I've decided I am going to take charge and fix this problem! I will write a weekly menu plan and post it here. My readers can keep me accountable and if I have a place to link all my recipes - I might just actually stick with this menu planning this time around!

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

Posted by Over Worked Mom Reviews at 11:33 PM 0 comments
An excellent opportunity for bloggers and online business owners to meet other like minded bloggers during the 5 Minutes for Mom Ultimate Blogging party hosted April 5th-12th!

A great way to gain new readers, gain new fans and possibly gain new customers! Click on over to UBP13 for all the details!

New to blog parties? Some tips to consider:

  •  Don't just post your link on the 5 Minutes for Mom blog and run. Come back and visit as many of the blog pages as you can.

  • Leave meaningful comments, not just "nice blog" or "come buy from me". Leave comments the blogger wants to read.  A simple comment like "Found you on the UBP13" works nicely. Short and sweet and the blogger knows how you found them.

  • Wondering about that url in the comments section? Leave your blog url, not your business url. Your business url can be in your welcome UPB13 post and on your blog. They will find your site that way. No blogger likes a spammer. If they are a PR friendly blog like this one, then you might be able to leave your business url. Always read their PR policies first.
Good luck and happy blog hopping!

Ziti with Sausage, Mushroom and Tomato sauce Recipe

Posted by Over Worked Mom Reviews at 1:57 PM 1 comments
My family and I tried this recipe last night and it was so good! I mainly cook with chicken or hamburger so it was refreshing to use a different kind of meat for a change. Kid friendly too!
I like this recipe because you can easily add and change ingredients and get a completely different look and taste. Next time I try this, I may use bell peppers - yum! Simple quick meal to prepare for those days when you don't feel like cooking a big meal.

You can find the recipe here:

Have a product or website you would like us to review? No problem - we love to see any family friendly products or websites to review. For a limited time - we are offering FREE product reviews (no product sample needed!) Or a FREE website review!

Why are we offering this for free when many other blogs charge for reviews or require a sample product?
1) this blog is fairly new, although we are not new to blogging or to operating a small businesses online. We have been online since 2008.
2) Because before we can write a review - we need a little help from you!

Interested? Good! We can help each other by promoting each others businesses! First I will need you to place some of my links to my Milo's Creations website on your blog or website. Preferably in the side margin for your blog or on your homepage for your website. They can be clickable text links, anchoring links or banners. We have specific product links that we would love for you to link to, so be sure to contact us first before linking our site.

Once you have contacted us and we've discussed terms. I will write a review of your entire website or up to 3 products with pictures and links that you provide. I will link to your site and to your products while writing my review. These links will create one way (also known as backlinks) to your site and products! The more websites you can get to link to your products and website the better for you when it comes to ranking higher in the search engines for your key words.

Please use the contact us option to discuss your business.

What is SEO - Search Engine Optimization?

Posted by Over Worked Mom Reviews at 12:49 AM 1 comments
So you've read and heard a little about SEO or maybe you have no clue what I'm talking about?

SEO = Search Engine Optimization. In nutshell is the how and why you get traffic to your website.
All the major search engines use SEO to direct web users to the content they are looking for.

SEO is a process of making your website search engine friendly in order to receive natural "hits" to your website. The major search engines usually include Google, Yahoo and Bing. Natural hits is when your site shows up in the center section of websites in the "unpaid" section. The section to the right of the page is the "paid" search results. Those are paid ads that match your search term, also known as Paid Per Click (PPC).

One of the many ways to naturally get to the first page of search engines is to have lots of quality one way (or backlinks) pointing to your site. The more one way links you have - the more "popular" you appear to search engines. You didn't know it was a popularity contest did you? In way it is. That is where we can help!

5 Ways to Be a Fun Mom

5 Ways to be a Fun Mom

By Lynn Powers

A couple years ago, my daughter told me I wasn't a "fun mom." Granted, the comment came when I was busy with something and it wasn't possible for me to drop what I was doing and play with her. But I'll admit, the comment still stung.

Of course, because I work at home, there will certainly be times when I have to say no. There is work that needs to be done and my kids need to learn that the world doesn't completely revolve around them. But, are there times when I am so consumed with my work that "no" becomes an automatic response to my kids' pleas to play? Do I need to lighten up? Have I forgotten how to become a fun mom?

As any work-at-home mom knows, balancing work and motherhood is not easy! But, at the end of the day, would I rather say I got each of the twelve things done on my to-do list? Or that I took some time to pay attention to the needs of my child?

Here are five ways you can get your work done and still be considered a "fun mom."

1. Take a Time Out. When your child is pleading with you to play with her, take a moment to consider whether she may be desperate for time with you. A child can only go so long without some quality time with her mom. Take a half an hour break to spend playing a game, drawing a picture, or taking a walk around the block.

2. Set the timer. Tell your child you will set the timer for one hour. When the timer goes off, it will be time to play. You will then set the timer for twenty minutes and play whatever it is he wants to play, whether it's matchbox cars, a board game, or silly dancing to a favorite CD. Do that a couple of times throughout the day. And stay true to your word - when you hear that "ding," drop what you're doing. Let him know he's the priority.

3. Make lunch time a fun time. Use the hour to involve your child in making sandwiches and setting the table. Leave the paperwork in the office and focus on your child. Ask her questions about things she enjoys - like what she's named her latest WebKinz or what happened on her favorite television show this morning.

4. Put him to work! We're not talking child labor, here. But, if possible, involve your child in your work. Of course, the work needs to be age-appropriate. A three-year old can put paper in the recycling bin. A five year old is able to stamp envelopes. A ten year old can do some filing. You may get more work done this way, or less, but involving your child will be priceless.

5. LAUGH! Take a moment to tell your daughter a silly joke. Relive a funny moment from the past. Have a five minute "tickling spree." If hearing your child's laughter doesn't get you started, nothing will. Besides the "fun" factor, laughing reduces stress and ups the immune system - an added benefit for you both!

Working at home and being a fun mom can go hand-in-hand. It's all about balance. But when you find the scale tipping a little too far on the work side, your child may just remind you that it's time to step away for a moment or two. And don't forget to grab that FUN hat on your way out of the office door.
